The Pre-Owned Hermès HSS Kelly Retourne 28 Verso Beton Togo Brushed Palladium is for sale as a one-off piece. The 28 is the reference Kelly: large enough to be used daily, small enough to still read as a dress bag.

Retourne construction is stitched inside out and then turned, which rounds the corners and gives a softer, more relaxed bag that sits closer to the body. Togo is a pebbled calfskin with a fine raised grain. It shrugs off light scratching far better than a smooth leather and softens slowly at the corners. Brushed palladium carries a matte satin finish rather than a mirror polish, and it is only offered on special order commissions.

The bag carries a front flap, two straps closing over a centre toggle, a clochette holding the lock and two keys, a single rolled handle and a removable shoulder strap. The interior is lined in Gris Perle chevre leather and has one zip pocket. It is a Verso, meaning the interior is lined in a deliberately contrasting colour. This is a Special Order, or HSS, commission. Those are placed through a boutique rather than bought off the shelf, they carry a horseshoe stamp above the Hermès blind stamp, and they exist in combinations that never reach general stock.

The exterior leather has some discoloration around the top handle tabs, the front flap has a tiny red mark, two of the bottom corners have faint wear. The interior leather is clean overall with no signs of wear. The clochette leather has signs of wear with some darkening to the leather from use.
