Cartier Tortue 34mm White Gold, available to buy now. The Tortue, introduced in 1912, takes its cushion shape from a tortoise shell and is among Cartier’s oldest continuously revisited forms.
The case measures 34mm x 28mm in white gold, on a crocodile skin strap. The movement is manual wind and has to be wound by hand. It is diamond or gem-set; the stones are shown in the listing photography.
Cartier has been making watches since 1904 and is shape-led rather than movement-led: the Tank, Santos, Crash and Baignoire are recognised by silhouette alone, which is why the discontinued and limited cases appreciate the way they do.
