Cartier Ballon Bleu 33mm Stainless Steel 2023, available to buy now. The Ballon Bleu wraps a sapphire cabochon crown into a curved guard, a design that became one of Cartier’s best-selling modern cases.
The case measures 33mm in stainless steel, on a rose gold, stainless steel strap. The movement is automatic, wound by the motion of the wrist. It is diamond or gem-set; the stones are shown in the listing photography.
Production dates to 2023. Cartier has been making watches since 1904 and is shape-led rather than movement-led: the Tank, Santos, Crash and Baignoire are recognised by silhouette alone, which is why the discontinued and limited cases appreciate the way they do.
