Cartier Santos XL 51.3mm Stainless Steel 2019, available to buy now. The Santos was made for Alberto Santos-Dumont in 1904 so he could read the time while flying, and it is arguably the first purpose-built wristwatch.
The case measures 51.3mm x 44.9mm in stainless steel, on a yellow gold, stainless steel strap. The movement is automatic, wound by the motion of the wrist.
A chronograph adds stopwatch timing. A date display is set into the dial. Production dates to 2019. Cartier has been making watches since 1904 and is shape-led rather than movement-led: the Tank, Santos, Crash and Baignoire are recognised by silhouette alone, which is why the discontinued and limited cases appreciate the way they do.
