The Cartier Tortue 30mm Rose Gold 2016 is for sale as a one-off piece. The Tortue, introduced in 1912, takes its cushion shape from a tortoise shell and is among Cartier’s oldest continuously revisited forms.
The case measures 30mm x 24mm in rose gold, on a rose gold strap. The movement is manual wind and has to be wound by hand. It is diamond or gem-set; the stones are shown in the listing photography.
Production dates to 2016. Cartier has been making watches since 1904 and is shape-led rather than movement-led: the Tank, Santos, Crash and Baignoire are recognised by silhouette alone, which is why the discontinued and limited cases appreciate the way they do.
