Hermès Lindy Sizes: Lindy 26, 30, Mini Lindy or Mini Lindy II

The Lindy 30, Lindy 26, Mini Lindy and Mini Lindy II side by side, to scale: what each size carries and which one to buy.

Which Hermès Lindy size: Lindy 30, Lindy 26 and Mini Lindy

The Lindy is the softest bag Hermès makes in its core range, and choosing between the Hermès Lindy sizes is less obvious than it looks. The Lindy 30 and Lindy 26 are full handbags; the Mini Lindy and the newer Mini Lindy II are small enough to wear across the body all day. This guide sets the four side by side, to scale, and explains what each one is actually good for.

What makes the Lindy different

Most Hermès bags are built to hold their shape. The Lindy is built to relax. Its two rolled handles sit across the top of the bag rather than at either end, so it can be carried by hand from either side, and the zipped top folds in at each end to form two small exterior pockets. A detachable shoulder strap turns it into a crossbody bag. As a result, the Lindy is one of the few Hermès designs that genuinely works hands-free, which is exactly why it has such a loyal following among people who carry a bag every day.

The shape suits soft, grained leathers. Clémence is the classic choice: it slouches gracefully, hides light scratches and wears in rather than out. Swift is smoother and takes colour more intensely, at the cost of showing marks sooner. For a deeper comparison, read our Hermès leather guide.

The Hermès Lindy sizes, one by one

Measurements below come from the bags in our current stock, as width by height by depth.

  • Lindy 30 — 30 × 20 × 15 cm. The everyday size. It takes a small laptop sleeve, a wallet, a phone and a scarf without strain, and it still reads as a handbag rather than a tote.
  • Lindy 26 — 25 × 18 × 13 cm. The balanced choice. It holds the essentials comfortably, and on the strap it sits neatly at the hip.
  • Mini Lindy — 19 × 13 × 10 cm. A true crossbody piece. Phone, cardholder, keys and a lipstick, with the strap worn long.
  • Mini Lindy II — 19 × 13 × 10 cm. Hermès’ revised mini. On paper the footprint matches the original Mini Lindy; the strap on our examples drops a little shorter, at about 20 inches against 22.

Because the two minis measure the same, the choice between them comes down to the individual bag: colour, leather, hardware and condition. Compare the photographs of the exact piece rather than relying on the name.

Which of the Hermès Lindy sizes should you buy?

If the Lindy will be your main bag, the 30 is the safest choice, because it is the only size that carries a full working day. The 26 suits anyone who already owns a larger tote and wants a lighter bag that still holds more than a wallet. Meanwhile, the Mini Lindy and Mini Lindy II are the sizes that move fastest on the secondary market, since they fill a gap few other Hermès bags fill: a soft, hands-free crossbody that still feels like Hermès.

If you are weighing a Lindy against a structured bag, it helps to read which Birkin size to buy and Birkin or Kelly as well. The Lindy answers a different question: comfort first, then shape.

Colour: where the Mini Lindy II shines

Hermès Mini Lindy II colours in stock: Vert Yucca, Rose Sakura, Purple, Orange, Blue Jean, Bleu Lin, Craie, Terre and Black
The Mini Lindy II colour edit, from our current stock.

A small bag is the right place for a strong colour, and the Mini Lindy II proves it. Vert Yucca, Orange and Purple read as a deliberate accent, while Craie, Terre and Black work as neutrals that go with everything. If you want one bag to wear every day, start with a neutral; if you already own one, the mini is the easiest way to add colour to a collection.

What to check across all Hermès Lindy sizes

  • Slouch is normal, collapse is not. A Lindy in Clémence relaxes with use. However, the base and sides should still hold their line when the bag is set down.
  • Corners and handle edges. These show wear first. Look for rubbing on the corners and darkening on the rolled handles.
  • The zip and pull. The zip should run smoothly end to end, and the leather pull should be intact.
  • The strap. Check the clasps and the strap edges, because a crossbody strap takes most of the daily strain.
  • Stamps and stitching. As with every Hermès bag, the blind stamp, heat stamp and saddle stitching tell you whether the bag is right. Our authentication checklist applies to the Lindy too.

Every Lindy we list is authenticated in house and photographed from every side, so you can check condition before you commit.

Common questions

Is the Lindy comfortable to wear crossbody?

Yes. In fact it is one of the most comfortable Hermès bags to wear that way, because the soft body moulds to you. The minis are designed to be worn on the strap almost all the time.

Which leather is best for a Lindy?

Clémence for everyday use, since it slouches well and resists scratches. Swift if you want richer colour and do not mind a little more care.

Do you ship the Lindy internationally?

We do. Every order ships fully insured. For questions about a particular bag, call +1 (213) 679-3177, message us on WhatsApp, or email sales@herbirkinbags.com.
