Rolex built its reputation on two inventions. The Oyster case of 1926 made a wristwatch genuinely water-resistant, and the Perpetual rotor of 1931 made it self-winding. Almost everything the house sells today still carries both words on the dial.

The Datejust, introduced in 1945, remains the core of the catalogue and the largest part of what we hold. It was the first self-winding chronometer to show the date in a window, and it is the model that offers the widest choice: steel, Rolesor pairing steel with gold, or solid gold; fluted or smooth bezels; Jubilee or Oyster bracelets; and a dial range no other reference approaches. Sizes run from 26mm and 28mm through 31mm and 36mm to 41mm, and the 36mm remains the most versatile of them.

The Day-Date, from 1956, is made only in precious metal and spells the day in full across the top of the dial. It is the watch that gave the President bracelet its name.

The professional models answer particular problems rather than tastes. The Submariner is the dive watch with a unidirectional bezel. The GMT-Master adds a second time zone on a fourth hand. The Daytona is the chronograph built for timing laps, and it is the reference where condition and dial variant move price most sharply. The Sky-Dweller adds an annual calendar and a second zone; the Oyster Perpetual keeps only time.

Our stock spans watches from the late 1950s to the present year, so condition, service history and the presence of box and papers vary widely, and each listing says which. On any pre-owned Rolex, read the bracelet stretch, the sharpness of the lugs and the dial's originality before the reference number.
