The Cartier Santos Dumont 38.5mm White Gold is for sale as a one-off piece. The Santos-Dumont is the flatter, quartz or manual-wind interpretation of the original aviation watch, named directly for the aviator it was built for.
The case measures 38.5mm x 30.5mm in white gold, on a crocodile skin strap. The movement is quartz, battery-regulated and accurate to within seconds a month. It is diamond or gem-set; the stones are shown in the listing photography.
Cartier has been making watches since 1904 and is shape-led rather than movement-led: the Tank, Santos, Crash and Baignoire are recognised by silhouette alone, which is why the discontinued and limited cases appreciate the way they do.
