The Cartier Santos de Cartier Medium 35.1mm White Gold is for sale as a single unit. The Santos was made for Alberto Santos-Dumont in 1904 so he could read the time while flying, and it is arguably the first purpose-built wristwatch.
The case measures 35.1mm in white gold, on a crocodile skin strap. The movement is automatic, wound by the motion of the wrist. It is diamond or gem-set; the stones are shown in the listing photography.
Cartier has been making watches since 1904 and is shape-led rather than movement-led: the Tank, Santos, Crash and Baignoire are recognised by silhouette alone, which is why the discontinued and limited cases appreciate the way they do.
