Birkin
The bag the house is measured by. Every size, leather and hardware combination we can source, each examined by hand.
This collection is empty at the moment.
Much of what we source never reaches the site. Tell us the size, leather and hardware you want and we will look for it.
The Birkin is a flat-bottomed tote with a fold-over flap, two rolled handles and a turn-lock closure, built by a single artisan from first cut to final stitch. It has been in continuous production since the mid-1980s and has never been easy to buy at retail, which is the single largest reason the resale market for it exists at all.
Choosing a size
The 25 is the most requested and the least practical — it holds a phone, a small wallet and very little else, and it commands the largest premium of any size. The 30 is the size most people actually use: it carries a day's necessities without becoming luggage. The 35 is a genuine working bag and trades at a noticeable discount, which makes it the value option for anyone who will actually fill it. The 40 is a travel bag and priced as a niche.
Leather and hardware
Most Birkins are Togo, and for most buyers that is the right answer — it holds shape, hides marks and resells reliably. Epsom is lighter and crisper, Clémence softer and heavier, Swift the route to the most saturated colours.
Gold and palladium hardware are close in value, with gold generally marginally stronger at resale on neutral and warm colourways. The choice matters more aesthetically than financially.
What moves value
In rough order: size, then colour, then leather, then hardware, then condition, then completeness of inclusions. Age matters far less than most buyers expect — a well-kept ten-year-old bag in a wanted configuration will outperform a store-fresh one in a difficult colour.
Neutral colourways — Noir, Étoupe, Gold, Craie — hold value most consistently because they have the widest audience. Rare seasonal colours can outperform dramatically or sit unsold for a year, and which of those happens is genuinely difficult to predict.
Buying pre-owned
Look at the corners first, the base second, and the hardware plating third. Ask for the blind stamp to be photographed. Every Birkin listed here has been assessed across six areas before being offered, and can be returned in full if an independent authenticator disagrees with us.
